[ Jonathan urges Boko Haram to state demand ] - Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has challenged Boko Haram to identify themselves and state clearly their demands as a basis for talks.
"If they clearly identify themselves now and say this is the reason why we are resisting, this is the reason why we are confronting government or this is the reason
why we destroy some innocent people and their properties ... then there will be a basis for dialogue," said Jonathan on Thursday.
"We will dialogue, let us know your problems and we will solve your problem but if they don't identify themselves, who will you dialogue with?"

Cocaine Seizure At UN Head Office
[ Cocaine seized at UN headquarters in New York ] - A bag containing 16kg (35.5lb) of cocaine was found at the United Nations headquarters in New York last week, police have said.
The drugs were in a bag printed with a version of the UN symbol which arrived at the organisation's mailroom, setting off a security alert.
Spokesman Paul Browne said they seemed to have been delivered by accident.
There was no name or address on the shipment sent from Mexico City through Cincinnati, he added.

[ Nigeria arrests 200 after Kano attacks ] - Nigeria has made some 200 arrests after last week's bombings and shootings in the city of Kano, with most of those detained Chadian "mercenaries", a senior police source said.
"Many arrests have been made since the attacks," the police source said in relation last Friday's attacks that killed at least 185 people.
"We have arrested around 200 attackers and 80 per cent of them are Chadians. They came in as mercenaries."

Somalia Hostages Freed In US Raid
[ Commandos rescue aid workers from Somalia pirates ] - US elite commandos swooped into lawless Somalia and rescued two Western aid workers held for three months by armed pirates in a daring pre-dawn raid approved by President Barack Obama.
In a rare US incursion into Somalia, Navy SEALs flying at least six military helicopters flew in to pluck American, Jessica Buchanan, and Dane, Poul Thisted, to safety in a fierce gun-battle which left all nine kidnappers dead.

[ Egypt marks anniversary of revolution ] - Tens of thousands of protesters
gathered in cities across Egypt, Wednesday, marking the one year anniversary of the "Lotus Revolution" - the uprising which united Egyptians and forced Hosni Mubarak from power.
However, the mood, while positive, was tempered by fears of enduring military rule, with many demonstrators claiming they were protesting the Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF), rather than celebrating a successful revolution.
By midday, Tahrir Square, the symbolic heart of last year's uprising, was packed, with huge crowds stretching down the side streets running off the square.
Protesters chanted slogans calling for SCAF's head, Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, to resign. Others called "liar" and "thief" while holding posters depicting Hosni Mubarak standing, humiliated and in his underwear, amid piles of money.

US Marine To Serve No Time Over Iraq Killings
[ US marine to serve no time over Iraq killings ] - A US marine accused over the killing of 24 Iraqi civilians in the city of Haditha was demoted to the rank of private but will serve no time behind bars, a military spokesman has said.
Staff Sergeant Frank Wuterich, the last squad member to face justice after all the others were cleared, was sentenced to 90 days confinement but he will not serve it for procedural reasons, the spokesman said.
The sentencing hearing was held on Tuesday at Camp Pendleton, south of Los Angeles.

[ Moammar Gadhafi loyalists seize Libyan town ] - Moammar Gadhafi loyalists have seized control of a Libyan town and raised the ousted regime's green flag, an official and commander said Tuesday.
The retaking of Bani Walid comes as Libya's new leaders have struggled to unify the oil-rich North African nation three months after Gadhafi was captured and killed.
Hundreds of well-equipped and highly trained remnants of Gadhafi's forces raised the green flag over buildings in the
western city late Monday after hours of clashes, said Mubarak al-Fatamni, the head of Bani Walid local council.

[ Nigerian fuel subsidy: Strike suspended ] - Nigeria's unions have suspended their strike after the president agreed to cut the cost of petrol following a week of protests.
The strike was called after prices doubled when President Goodluck Jonathan removed a fuel subsidy on 1 January.
Earlier on Monday, he announced that he would restore part of this subsidy. Nigeria is Africa's biggest oil producer but it imports almost all of its refined fuel.
Correspondents say many Nigerians see cheap fuel as the only benefit they get from their country's oil wealth, much of which is pocketed by corrupt officials.

An airport official said the plane took off from Sanaa airport to neighbouring Oman on Sunday evening.
While an aide to Saleh said he would stay there for several days before heading to the US, an Omani official told Reuters news agency that he would be in transit for only a few hours.

[ Crocodile swallows Indonesian girl ] - A wild crocodile has
swallowed a 10-year-old girl while she played in a river with her father in eastern Indonesia, the second death in the same place in two months.
The girl was swimming in Wailolong river on Thursday when the large crocodile suddenly appeared, swallowed her instantly and disappeared into the
water, said Viktor Mado Waton, Lembata district head in East Nusa Tenggara province.

[ Subsidy Fraud: FG Orders Ifeanyi Uba of Capital Oil To Pay N5 Billion Within 60 Days ] - Nigeria: The Federal Government
through the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has given Capital Oil owned by Ifeanyi Uba 60 days to pay back N5 Billion
being rogue proceeds he made from Kerosene subsidy or risk arrest and prosecution. Capital made N22.4 Billion from petrol subsidy.
Sources told Pointblanknews.com that NNPC allocated to Uba's Capital Oil 75% of kerosene supplies to distribute to the entire country at N50 pump price.

In this paper, I will briefly explain the relationship between development and liberated mind. Specifically, I will explain (a) how most of us, the Africans, were "educated" to feel inferior, (b) the terrible consequences of inferiority complex, i.e., low self-esteem, in Africa, especially in Nigeria, and (c) then present the ONLY powerful solution to revert this inferiority complex so that Africa can meaningfully grow and develop.
