The attention of the Egbe Omo Yoruba (EOY), United States and Canada, has been drawn to two articles written by two eminent journalists in Nigeria to the effect that the EOY is affiliated with or is an extension of the Alliance for Democracy (AD). For the benefits of the reading public the Egbe is in no way affiliated with nor is an extension of any political organization. The Egbe wishes to reiterate to the public, that we are not a political organization and as such our mission and focus remains, the fight for the full emancipation of the Yoruba nation in terms of preserving our economic, social and abundant cultural heritage, and therefore we shall not in anyway be drawn to any political battle with any individual, political organization, or group. While we subscribe to the axiom of freedom of expression, the Egbe thus view the two articles in the context of this rejoinder as mere personal expressions of the writers to which the article written by Mr. Tunde Abatan on Thursday September 15, 2005, in the Daily Independent and the subsequent write up by Mr. Wale Adedayo, on Friday September 16, 2005. Egbe Omo Yoruba wishes to acknowledge that its members are free to associate with any political group, based on personnel convictions. It is however pertinent to point out that the communiqué that was issued at the end our World Convention in Atlanta, GA United States, was clear and unambiguous on what our organization stands for and what our Egbe demands from all the leaders or stakeholders of the Yoruba nation aspirations. The general public who desires to know more about our organization is encourage to visit our website located at http://www.yorubanation.org. Where they can get relevant information on our activities. Finally we wish to make it known to the general reading public that we as an organization, views all the Governors of South Western States of Nigeria as Yoruba leaders without any regards to their political extraction. The Egbe Omo Yoruba North America will continue to hold accountable all Yoruba leaders while recognizing and acknowledging those that support our cause and demonstrate good governance and leadership. Signed,
Adéolá Ňdúsŕnyŕ
