A Nigerian boy aged 14 reportedly abandoned at the Zia International Airport (ZIA), Bangladesh on July 23 has been handed over to the Nigerian High Commission, New Delhi, India. The boy was apparently a victim of international child traffickers. He was reportedly travelling with an aunt, but authorities believe there was no blood relationship between the boy and his companion. The boy indentified as Abache Aloysius Peter was caught by the airport closed circuit TV loitering around the airport. Upon interogation the boy expressed his desire to return to London where his parents lived. A surgical interrogation by airport authorities revealed the boy's parents were diseased. Bangladesh National Women Lawyers' Association (BNWLA) took custody of Abache on July 26 following a court order. BNWLA with the help of Bangladesh Home Ministry handed over Abache to officials of Nigerian High Commission, New Delhi, India in a ceremony in Dhaka. The boy is to be repatriated to Nigeria immediately according to New Delhi Nigerian High Commission officials. Salma Ali, BNWLA Executive Director advocate, at a press conference conveyed special thanks to the Nigerian High Commission for their positive lightening measures on Abache.
