The first citizen of Abia State of Nigeria, His Excellency, Chief Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu arrived Washington DC Wednesday night to snow-covered city with treacherous road conditions. A price worth paying for a great occasion and for a dear friend? Yes it is, as the Nigerian action governor came in on a personal invitation from the first family of the United States to attend the inaugural swearing in ceremony of President Bush’s second term in office. Talking to a reporter Thursday morning on arrival at the VIP-studded event, the young and charismatic Governor was quoted as saying, “when a good friend calls on you in their moment of triumph, you rise to the occasion, right? " He continued, "that’s why I’m in your country to support and celebrate with a long time family friend. Long live America! Long live Nigeria!"
Zoobee Chukwurah writes from Washington D.C., U.S.A.
